Wow...just found this in 2024....had no idea this had happened....they were truly remarkable live....as in transporting you to a different place especially Eddie whose playing only got better with time.

Yeah I agree , Dave is probably like New York City. A short visit is exciting , stimulating and once in a life time type of fun . But living and working in New York day after day is more than likely a much different story.

Edward Van Halen is the answer to the question 'what would happen if Mozart came back as a rock guitarist?' Eddie was one of the most important musicians in the last 100 years. I am prepared to die on this hill. The man was a freak. And I use that term as a compliment with love. Talent of that magnitude is exceedingly rare in any field. I've always thought that Ed had to have some degree of peace in life, knowing he was doing what he was meant to. The entire world knew he was born to play guitar, and in his humble way... he knew it too. He found his calling early and rode it out until the end. And it doesn't get much more obvious than it did with him as far as what you are supposed to do with your life. Edward Van Halen was a Musician. Capital M intentional. Creating music was EXACTLY what he was meant to do in life. He was born to it, and he was born for it. And jesus h fucking christ was he good at it....

So question!? Just watched a newer video of Eddie, and he said they basically did everything to become what the Van Halen band is known today, if he’s just some punk kid who plays guitar didn’t you want this life style? Wasn’t it more than just playing the guitar? Rip legend!

I remember getting my hands on one in 1994 at Steve's Music in Toronto. I thought it sounded, played, and looked awful. I wonder if I'd have the same opinion now considering how many people love them! My youthful ears might've been playing tricks on me.

When he's playing "Dance The Night Away", there it is ... that tone. I don't understand how guitar players are going out of their way to re-create the tone you hear on those first VH records when you can achieve it with an EVH Wolfgang and 5150 III amp. Just about every guitar player relentlessly pursuing Ed's tone has no understanding of how much it had to do with the way he played.

I saw Van Halen 13 years ago and David Lee was the frontman! It was the worst concert I've ever attended. David kept forgetting the lyrics and he wasn't Diamond Dave, more like black coal. What a disappointment!

Here's the thing, if you're dealing with substance abuse. That's your battle. The people around you should not have to change their lifestyle to suit you.
